Technologies

Windows technologies

For Windows systems we can develop databases using Microsoft's readily available, but deceptively powerful, Access product. Larger projects may require upsizing to SQL Server. A web browser can communicate with the database over the internet, or your own intranet, using Active Server Pages (ASP), which is included in Microsoft's IIS web server.

For custom desktop applications we use Visual Basic, which is specifically designed for the development of Windows software.

Open source technologies

If you prefer to use the popular open source Apache server, we can develop databases using MySQL. To allow communication with a web browser, we can use ASP running through a third party ASP server (e.g. Chillisoft) or the open source PHP language.

Java

Java is a software language designed to be compatible across platforms. If you need applications that will run on Windows, Unix, Linux, and other platforms then Java is probably the answer.

Technical documentation

Our software and systems are designed to be intuitive so as to minimise training and support costs. Clear, concise operating intructions and first class training materials can address this requirement further.
